San Diego, CA, October 22, 2024 — Tyson & Mendes LLP is pleased to announce the addition of trial lawyer Hector Jimenez as a Partner in the firm’s San Diego office. Jimenez brings a wealth of experience to the firm, focusing his practice on general liability defense and representing entity defendants in cases involving alleged sexual torts, including sexual assault and child sexual abuse.

Jimenez joins Tyson & Mendes after a distinguished 30-year career as a front-line prosecutor, where he gained extensive jury trial experience. Over his prosecutorial career, he handled high-profile cases involving murders, rapes, vehicular homicides, bank robberies, and fraud. As the leader of the hate crimes prosecution unit, Jimenez achieved national recognition by securing the first gender-based hate crimes conviction in the United States.

Among his many accomplishments, Jimenez successfully prosecuted a complex two-defendant securities fraud case, securing convictions that resulted in sentences of 35 and 28 years in state prison. His deep trial experience and history of success in high-stakes cases will be invaluable to Tyson & Mendes’ clients.

Jimenez earned his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1993, where he was a member of the traveling mock trial team. He obtained his B.A. from California State University at Fullerton in 1989 and remains actively involved in the legal community as a member of the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association.
